Licenses determine how many Data Processors can operate in the LogRhythm installation and how many Messages Per Second (MPS) can be processed by the Data Processors. The licenses are assigned to a data processor through the Data Processor Properties dialog box.

License a Data Processor

You must be logged in as an Administrator to take this action.

  1. On the main toolbar, click Deployment Manager.
  2. Click the Data Processors tab.
  3. Right-click a Data Processor to license, and then click Properties.
    The Data Processor Properties dialog box appears.
  4. Click Licensing Wizard.
  5. Follow the steps of the wizard to complete the process.
  6. Click OK when the process is complete.

Remove a License from a Data Processor

You must be logged in as an Administrator to take this action.

  1. On the main toolbar, click Deployment Manager.
  2. Click the Data Processor tab.
  3. Right-click a Data Processor to unlicense, and then click Properties.
    The Data Processor Properties dialog box appears.
  4. Click Remove License.
    No confirmation prompt appears.
  5. Click OK.

Assign System Monitor Licenses

You must be logged in as an Administrator to take this action.

LogRhythm Agent licenses can be assigned and reclaimed via the System Monitors tab of the Deployment Manager:

  1. On the main toolbar, click Deployment Manager.
  2. Click the System Monitors tab.
  3. To license a LogRhythm Agent:

    1. Select the Action check box for the Agent you wish to license.
    2. Right-click the entry.
    3. Click Actions, click License, and then select one of the following:
      • System Monitor Lite
      • System Monitor Pro
      • System Monitor Collector
  4. To remove a LogRhythm Agent License:

    1. Select the Action check box for the Agent you wish to unlicense.
    2. Right-click the entry.
    3. Click Actions, and then click Unlicense.

Import LogRhythm Licenses

Only Global Admins or Restricted Admins with elevated View and Manage privileges can take this action.

If you need to update your LogRhythm license, you can import a new license file. You must update your license when:

  • You upgrade to a new LogRhythm version that is not supported by the current license.
  • Your evaluation period expires.
  • You purchase a new license or add-on components.

To import a license file, do the following:

  1. On the main toolbar, click Deployment Manager.
  2. On the File menu, click Import License File.
  3. Browse to and select your license file, and then click Open.

View LogRhythm License Report

The license report shows a list of licenses grouped by type, along with values for the total quantity purchased, the number assigned, and the remaining available. The report is grouped by expiration date. Licenses that expire fall within a sub-report for that expiration date.

To view a license report:

  1. On the Help menu, click About LogRhythm.
  2. Click License Report.
  3. The Report Viewer appears.

    The report can be printed or exported as a Crystal Report, PDF, Excel, Word, or RTF file.
