NetMon 5.0.4 Release Notes - 06 January 2026

Welcome to NetMon 5.0.4! This version continues to improve upon the 5.0.0 release by enhancing the management and security of the NetMon software with the implementation of Keycloak to manage users and API keys, as well as various updates to the NetMon API.

New Features

NetMon API Enhancements

As of this release, the NetMon API will now use Bearer tokens for authentication, replacing Basic Auth. This update follows industry trends of moving to more secure Bearer tokens for API authentication.

The LogRhythm Client Console and Web Console have both been updated to support the new authentication mechanism. Refer to the Integrate NetMon with LogRhythm SIEM group of topics for more information on this connection between NetMon and the SIEM.

Keycloak Implementation

NetMon version 5.0.4 introduces the Keycloak solution to help with the oversight and security of the NetMon software in the following ways:

• User accounts and API keys are stored within Keycloak.

• All authentication checks now interact with Keycloak.

• The user management UI now goes through Keycloak.

• Authentication bypass risks have been resolved.

Action is required before upgrading to NetMon 5.0.4. Due to these enhanced security protocols in the new version of NetMon:

• No passwords are migrated from earlier versions to 5.0.4.

• The default admin username and password will be reset.

• If NetMon is integrated with the LogRhythm SIEM, the configuration must be updated to use the new token-based authentication. Refer to Integrate NetMon with LogRhythm SIEM for more information.

Important NetMon 5.0.4 Upgrade Process

Before upgrading to NetMon 5.0.4, you must be running NetMon 5.0.3. However, if you are on an older version of NetMon, you can use the 5.0.4 ISO to re-install your NetMon appliance, but you cannot upgrade from a version of NetMon prior to 5.0.3 directly to NetMon 5.0.4.

Upgrade from 5.0.3 to 5.0.4

Install NetMon 5.0.4
