High Availability Physical Configuration
The physical configuration of your HA appliances will differ from a stand-alone installation.
Each of the nodes requires two physical connections. One connection goes to the public network (Production LAN), and the second connection goes to a private network (Replication).
On physical hardware, the MAC address of NIC1 is bound to the SIOS license and needs to be connected to the Public network. If you must select another NIC or need to change the MAC, contact LogRhythm Support to re-issue an updated license.
The second connection should be on a separate physical and logical network that allows one node in the cluster to communicate with the other node. To facilitate this, an orange Ethernet cable is included with your HA appliance for single-site deployments. For more information, see the Dual-Site Deployment Requirements section of the High Availability Deployment Overview topic.
On XM/PM systems, use the orange Ethernet cable to connect any 10Gb/s NIC on the primary system with a 10Gb/s NIC on the secondary system. For AIE and SMA HA pairs, 1Gb/s is sufficient. NICs on all provided appliances support Auto-MDIX; therefore, using a physical cross-over cable is not necessary assuming auto-negotiation is enabled.
If implementing HA in a virtual environment, it is recommended to use a dedicated private switch between the two hosts for the private (Replication) NIC.
