Change NTP Servers

This section describes how you can adjust the connection from the NetMon appliance to the NTP server. From the Time configuration, you can also determine the time difference between the NetMon appliance and your client browser (the system you are using to connect to the NetMon via the Web Management interface).

1. Open the NetMon Web Management interface.
2. On the top navigation bar, click Configuration, and then click the Time tab.

3. Specify a new primary and backup server, as described in the following table:

   Time Configuration
   Primary NTP Server	Defines the IP address for the main NTP server used in your network. The default is the address for the CentOS NTP server. If you do not establish an internet connection for the NetMon appliance and want to use a local NTP server, enter the address for that local server here. You do not need to define an NTP server, but the time values displayed will likely be out of sync with your web browser and it will be difficult to ascertain the exact time a network event occurred.
   (Optional) Secondary NTP Server	Defines the IP address for the secondary NTP server used in your network (if any).

4. When you are done making changes, click Apply Changes. After defining and syncing with an NTP server, it can take several minutes for data to appear on NetMon dashboards.

   

   If the difference between the Browser Time and the NetMon Time settings is greater than your configured security timeout setting , you are logged out of NetMon when the times are updated. For example, if your security timeout setting is 15 minutes, and the difference between Browser Time and NetMon Time is 16 minutes, you are logged out.
