Force Encrypted Connections for SQL (Recommended)

For more information on encrypted connections with the database engine, see this Microsoft article.

  1. In SQL Server Configuration Manager, expand SQL Server Network Configuration, right-click Protocols for <server instance>, and then select Properties.

  2. In the Protocols for <instance name> Properties dialog box, click the Certificate tab.

  3. In the Certificate box, select the certificate you want, and then click OK.

  4. On the Flags tab, in the Force Encryption box, select Yes, and then click OK to close the dialog box.

  5. Restart the SQL Server service.
